Here, here, here we go
[You want to know what kind of sleep you had? Quite frankly, it doesn't matter, not when it's interrupted by the sound of a cuckoo clock. When you're awake enough to look over and see what woke you up, you can see a small bear figurine popping in and out o- wait, what? It suddenly occurs to you that this isn't at all where you went to sleep last night.
But...it's nice enough. It's a wooden cabin, and seems to have been decorated with neat matching furniture. Your rather small bed is flanked by the cuckoo clock, and which for the life of you, you can't figure out how to shut off...which doesn't matter much when it stops a few moments later regardless. The time reads 7 AM, which might very well be far too early for your tastes.
When you actually start to look around a bit, you may or may not find one personal object on a nearby dresser, but more importantly, you might eventually notice is a small device somewhere on your person. If you can figure out how to work it, pressing the screen will reveal a profile containing information about yourself, and scrolling down reveals several different ones for strangers. It only serves to raise more and more questions - just what is is going on?
Suddenly, without warning, a screeching sound interrupts the last of whatever peace you might have had, and a voice blares out throughout the entire camp:]
Rise and shine, campers! Please make your way to the Mess Hall by 8 AM sharp!
[There's another screeching sound, and...music begins to play. It's not loud enough to drown out your speaking, but it's annoying, especially when you take into consideration that it doesn't stop playing. Ever. It just keeps repeating. Background music! It seems to be coming from the loudspeaker in the middle of the camp, and does generally get quieter the further you move from in. In addition, you'll find that the music seems to disappear entirely when you enter some buildings - such as the Theater and the previously-mentioned mess hall.
Speaking of which? When you finally exit your cabin, you'll find your feet meeting a cobblestone path - and down this path are more and more cabins. Going beyond the path, you'll find that nearly all the ground in the area is grassy, but luckily, there are a few dirt paths here and there to help you get to where you need to go. If you ignore the oddities, like the giant stone walls that surround the camp or the constantly-burning bonfire? It's almost kind of serene.
The sun is shining, and it's a lovely day for camping. It's time to mix and mingle.]
[ooc: Smash Ronpa is now open! This intro log will function as IC meet and greet. Use it to get to know your fellow classmates, ask questions, and check out your surroundings a bit. Your headmaster will be making his appearance shortly, upupupu~]

Indeed, I was.
Normally I would be fascinated by such an object, but all that noise was far too dreadful for my tastes.

[Somewhere in the 'List of Bad Ideas', startling a seasoned soldier is high up there.]
They are neat, though...Ah wonder how this place afforded so many. Them's a fair bit o'gold where Ah come from.
no subject
I suppose it's a good thing I didn't break it then.... it must cost even more to replace!
no subject
Probably! But ya don't got a 'grasp' on money stuff? What do ya mean?

I don't really need much though.
no subject
[Sounds like what a servant might call their employer.]
no subject
[...Liz... don't call him by his nickname you'll confuse poor Nephenee even more]
I do know that he himself serves another master. The Grand Master is more like a deity than a noble though.
no subject
[Yup, Nephenee is Confused. Might want to use Patra.]
Huh...What's it like? Workin' for someone like that, Ah mean? Ah've worked the fields my whole life...
no subject
That and I don't... how do you say... "get out much"?
no subject
Do your duties keep ya cooped up?
[She personally hates being cooped up too long, herself.]
no subject
There also isn't much point in us going to the outside world, though I personally enjoy it. I find normal human life simply fascinating!
no subject
[Poor ignorant lancer.]
Well, Ah'm human..well, we call it Beorc, but ya can ask me anythin' ya want!
[...It occurs to her this...might be easier with names. Whoopsie!]
Oh, pl-plum forgot my manners. Ah'm Nephenee...nice to meet ya, Miss...?
[Shake the extended hand?
>> Very yes
No]
no subject
Ah yes. My name is Elizabeth.
[>>Very yes]
no subject
[Nephenee's got a surprisingly strong handshake, but she does her best not to be too hard.]
So...anythin' in particular ya wanna know first?
no subject
[which it is]
Hmm... do you know what the purpose of this device actually is? [pointing to the cuckoo clock] I know it makes so much noise but for the life of me I cannot figure out why.
no subject
A-aw, thanks...Ah'm named after the marigold flower...
A-anyway, the main function is tellin' time, o'course, but...Ah think the birdie is an alarm, or for sayin' what hour it is. So, like, seven chirps is seven o'clock...
Or so Ah guess...we've only got a crude one at my home. Think the difference's mostly the work gettin' put into 'em. Lots more work to add the lil' birdie, Ah reckon.
[This is all guesswork, let's be honest. Her knowledge of fancy clocks is minimum at best, she just knows they have a lot of inner parts.]
no subject
The noise is so distracting though... humans require precisely eight hours of sleep a night, do they not? How could one sleep if it sounds on the hour every hour...?
no subject
...Maybe there's a way to make it not holler? Or maybe it's jus' one o'them things ya get used to...
The pointers? Oh, ya mean the hands.
[Plucking the clock from its resting place in the grass, she, well, points at them.]
This one's the hour hand, an' this is the minute hand, that point to the lil' lines that are the minutes.
