guestronpa | Here, here, here we go

[You want to know what kind of sleep you had? Quite frankly, it doesn't matter, not when it's interrupted by the sound of a cuckoo clock. When you're awake enough to look over and see what woke you up, you can see a small bear figurine popping in and out o- wait, what? It suddenly occurs to you that this isn't at all where you went to sleep last night.

But...it's nice enough. It's a wooden cabin, and seems to have been decorated with neat matching furniture. Your rather small bed is flanked by the cuckoo clock, and which for the life of you, you can't figure out how to shut off...which doesn't matter much when it stops a few moments later regardless. The time reads 7 AM, which might very well be far too early for your tastes.

When you actually start to look around a bit, you may or may not find one personal object on a nearby dresser, but more importantly, you might eventually notice is a small device somewhere on your person. If you can figure out how to work it, pressing the screen will reveal a profile containing information about yourself, and scrolling down reveals several different ones for strangers. It only serves to raise more and more questions - just what is is going on?

Suddenly, without warning, a screeching sound interrupts the last of whatever peace you might have had, and a voice blares out throughout the entire camp:]

Rise and shine, campers! Please make your way to the Mess Hall by 8 AM sharp!

[There's another screeching sound, and...music begins to play. It's not loud enough to drown out your speaking, but it's annoying, especially when you take into consideration that it doesn't stop playing. Ever. It just keeps repeating. Background music! It seems to be coming from the loudspeaker in the middle of the camp, and does generally get quieter the further you move from in. In addition, you'll find that the music seems to disappear entirely when you enter some buildings - such as the Theater and the previously-mentioned mess hall.

Speaking of which? When you finally exit your cabin, you'll find your feet meeting a cobblestone path - and down this path are more and more cabins. Going beyond the path, you'll find that nearly all the ground in the area is grassy, but luckily, there are a few dirt paths here and there to help you get to where you need to go. If you ignore the oddities, like the giant stone walls that surround the camp or the constantly-burning bonfire? It's almost kind of serene.

The sun is shining, and it's a lovely day for camping. It's time to mix and mingle.]

[those did concern him. Where did they even get that sort of information? Granted, it wasn't exactly classified, but...]

Of course. Whoever has organized this is probably a huge fan of us.

"Fan". I don't think I have any "fans". That's the blue hedgehog's thing. [he shakes his head] An experiment of some kind would be my best guess.

Hm. I'm not entirely certain. The whole ordeal is unpleasantly tongue-in-cheek regardless.

I suppose with no means of escape, all we can do is [urrggghhjkfjsdjlgsdhsk] wait and see if more clues reveal themselves. Such as what might be strong enough to block the energy of this Chaos Emerald. [he holds up the green gem, glowing only dimly]

[...]

It's a rock.

[equally deadpan in return;] Yes. Unfortunately that's all it is, right now. A very pretty rock, and maybe a nightlight. Normally it's a very powerful artifact. It's cruel to dangle a way out just out of my grasp.

So, it's a magical artifact? Hm. Perhaps there's a way to restore any properties associated with it. Unfortunately, I don't have any of my spellbooks with me.

[he nods] As ancient as the world itself. There are seven of these in total, but the power of just one would be plenty to get everyone out of here and turn this place into a smoking crater. [Spellbooks? Again, not a big fan of "magic", but he's not going to spit on any possible outlets] So you're some sort of sorceress?

...Interesting. I'm well-acquainted with the world's magical objects, yet, I can't claim to have heard of Emeralds with that power.

Also, the correct term is witch.

I have a theory about that as well. I have asked many where they come from, and I have not recognized a single location. Though I'm not sure which is more likely; that everyone here is delusional or that multiverse theory is real and in play here.

... Right, witch. Apologies. [he was GOING to use that term, but he didn't want to offend her. Because he thinks she's pretty cool]

[Shhhh. She takes pride in it.]

I am familiar with the concept of other worlds, but should that prove true, it would be the first time I've encountered it on any scale.

...When you went around earlier, did anybody mention possible reasons for our being here? [As antisocial as she is, Shadow is proving himself interesting enough. Kind of like a more intelligent Red. She can get behind that.]

If whoever brought us here has the power to pull us in from multiple worlds, we may be in more trouble than I thought. [that sort of time and space manipulation was only possible with all the Chaos Emeralds. Even then, it was a stretch.]

[he pauses, recalling his experiences with the other campers] No. Most of them seem just as perplexed. My best guess is an experiment of some sort. It would explain the security cameras and containment. Like bees in a jar. And my guess is it won't be too long before someone come along to shake that jar.

It's a valid assumption, but it's also one that needs to be proven before anything else.

[Pause. Was it even worth taking...Luigi's opinion into account?] One of the others here, the one with the green hat and the mustache, mentioned a potential culprit - one I'm vaguely familiar with. I've heard no potential suspects otherwise.

[he nods in agreement. Thank the gods there is someone here who has sense and a level head.]

I haven't met that one yet. [he crosses his arms] Who is his suspect? [Shadow briefly considered Eggman... but the Doctor was far too self absorbed to not have his logo all over everything. Plus, it was much too green here]

He mentioned a character named Bowser, but happened to be practically stuttering throughout his testimony. I wouldn't even consider his testimony if this "Bowser" wasn't a relatively major threat on my world.

[Not to her, at least, but Mushroom Kingdom Politics are oft-discussed in school. She hasn't even met the guy.]

I see. So you and this "Luigi" inhabit the same world, one threatened by "Bowser". [just to be sure he's all clear on that] What does he look like? If he were responsible for this, what sort of things would I be looking for?

Large and reptilian. Firey red hair. I'm not very active on following this character - but I am aware that he has posed threats on planetary scales in the past.

[Shadow nods] Sounds like he'd be hard to miss. I'll keep an eye out.

Of course.

...Though, I can't help but feel that any potential kidnapper in a situation like this wouldn't want to be found out.

Just more reason to be vigilant when looking for clues.
