THE FIRST VICTIM

[This morning, it seems like the world should have ended, but if anyone wakes up early enough or just (quite understandably) couldn’t sleep… well… they’ll see four giant Monobears catching the falling moon and pushing it back up into the sky.

That sure is a thing that happened, but it seems to have happened before touching the ground. That’s a good thing, right?

...Unfortunately, there might be something a little wrong. For one, there’s no music playing on the loudspeakers… which kind of leaves an unsettling stillness hanging in the air.

Maybe it’s best to check around the camp to make sure everyone’s alright.]

Hm... you know, I found marks on the walls and posters while I was getting to the roof. Perhaps someone climbed up there and surprised him from above?

[he looks down at the body]

The angle of the injury is consistent with an attack from above, and slightly behind. Or from someone much taller than him.

There's a nasty fracture on the skull, could've been from momentum. There aren't any footprints behind him, either, so unless someone's both big and light on their feet...

... Now that I think about it, none of us here are particular tall.

No, probably not...he was pretty determined to let the moon fall. Nephenee's almost as tall as I am, but she doesn't seem like the type to do something like try to pin the blame on someone else. And, well, you know I was on the wall all night...

I should hope so. If nothing else, we all know who I would've gone for if I was going to kill someone.

... I have to admit, it saddens me to see the boxer lying here. He didn't deserve this.

But you have to wonder... someone willing to make such a cowardly move, why did they not pick a weaker target?

...Maybe it was a crime of opportunity? They didn't pick their target, they just went for whoever they could get vulnerable.

Regardless, I think we've done all we can do here. Those feathers... do you think the angel boy may be responsible?

It is possible he was framed. He's been dropping those feathers all over the place, hasn't he? Wouldn't be too hard to collect them.

No, I don't think that's right. Going by the way his face is, it looks more like he fell.

Then perhaps... he AND the perpetrator were on the roof... Mac was struck from behind, and faceplanted into the dirt.

That would make more sense, yeah. Except for one part: how did he even get up there?

He was fairly athletic. He could have climbed up there... especially if he had help.

Well, first of all, I would hope he's not that stupid, but I can never tell. Second, there's an invisible barrier above the wall. There's no flying or jumping out.

Wha-? That's a stupid idea! Even if he could handle a jump like that, there's a barrier past the wall!

Well we didn't know that! And we were just talking anyway, I didn't think anything would come of it!
