THE FINAL INVESTIGATION

[...well, that was a thing.

It doesn't matter much now, because Monobear appears to have died. Whether or not he'll be gone long, however, is another matter of debate. It's time to act - and it's time to act fast.

When the group exits the courtroom, they will find themselves in a lush island landscape. The fifth world. If they look back at the door, they'll see they've left out of A GIANT STONE MONOBEAR HEAD...if he thinks hard enough, Luigi will get familiar vibes.

Regardless, the group of campers doesn't appear to be out of the fire yet. While the ocean hangs all around them, there's certainly no way off the island...is there?

All-Too-Tranquil-Music blasts from a speaker above the stone Monobear. It's time to move, Smashers.]

Part of him thinks it's a good idea to investigate that hole, but another part figures it's not worth the trouble. Besides, it looks too small for him. His wings would get caught and then he'd have to tear up the ship and then Alastor would get angry and no one wants that. So rather than dive into the whole, Salamence circles around and heads back where it was before, roaring loudly to get Alastor's attention.]

[That definitely does get his attention.]

You find something?

[Another roar, accompanied by a nod. Hopefully Alastor understands that, because either way he's heading for the ship.]

[It's pretty easy to figure out. He follows after, but not before calling back:]

There's something over this way!

[Hope everyone's wanted to be pirates, because that sure is a giant pirate ship. Though one that's seen better days.]

Good job.

[Have a candy bar and a pat on the head for this and the battle earlier.]

Keep an eye out here while I check out inside. Maybe there's some stuff in there we can use to patch it up...

[Aren't you forgetting someone, Alastor.]

[Is Altaria on its way back? Because if so, he's definitely going to wait.

Letting Altaria know where he went was kind of the biggest reason for leaving Salamance outside, though.]

[She's not, unfortunately. When he gave the order to look for land, well...he didn't tell her to stop if she didn't find anything. Which she hasn't. Probably a good idea to get Salamence after her and get someone else to assist with the ship.]

[He said nearby, yeesh.]

...Wait. How far did Altaria go? ...Go bring her back.

[She only wants to make him happy.

...well that, and she probably got distracted. Let's be honest with ourselves. With a nod, Salamence takes off once more.]

[...Yeah, he wouldn't be at all surprised if she got distracted by some bit of flotsam and didn't realize she'd scouted far enough, considering how they met.]

[OKAY SO LIKE TEN MINUTES PASS AND

Whoop, there they are, landing on the deck all safe and sound. Altaria sings a beautiful melody upon seeing Alastor. Which she hopes will totally distract him from the fact that she got distracted. Meanwhile, Salamence just rolls his eyes and lays down.]

[Nope, he's putting a hand on his hip.]

I hope you at least brought back some fish if you were out there playing with the water. C'mon, you'll have plenty of time to goof off once we're outta here.

[Shadow follows, skating along the beach. Woah... that sure is a ship]

I'll come with you.

[time to board the ship and look around]

[When the duo get up on the ship, they'll both notice that the deck is relatively open. There's a few barrels scattered about, and the door to the Captain's Quarters are in the back of the ship. Also? Yes, there is a Steering Wheel. At first glance, she appears to be in relatively good shape.]

[Well, just out of curiosity...he's going to pry open one of those barrels. Leaning back just in case there's a spring loaded glove inside it or something...]

[It's filled with bananas.]

[After twitching for a moment, he puts the lid firmly back on the barrel. Let's take a look in the captain's quarters instead, huh?]

[Bananas... really....]

At least we won't starve immediately, I guess.

[What's in the Captain's Quarters, huh? Something better than bananas]

I think I'd rather go fish, even if I wasn't a carnivore.

I've been told they're good for you. But they rot quickly. Not the best food for a ship, actually. If we do manage to sail this thing, we need other supplies.

[There's a large table and a few pieces of paper and ink quills. There's also a large king-sized bed and four framed portraits, each containing a painting of the same individual but in a different outfit in each.]

[Classy. Checking the paper. Is there anything written on them?]
