[Ashley Blair, the SHSL Witch-in-Training, is dead. She's had her life snuffed out, but how and why? It's a murder both mysterious and menacing.

It was random. I was going to make copies of all the notes and whoever responded first would be murdered. But the printer malfunctioned. And I only had one usable copy.

I didn't have enough time to sort things out. I just threw the random notes on the doors. Honestly, I even forgot which person got the readable one.

The machine was built for a tall and a small person. That's why there were two gears shot out at different heights.

Just bad luck, then.

[So that's it. The note in her mailbox wasn't a ploy to lure her out, too. If she had gone with Ashley, she could have prevented all of this. Or they could have both died. Either way, there had been a chance to save her and Hinawa missed it.]

Do you... feel bad? At all?

I don't really know. I haven't really felt anything over the last ten years. I mean, being alive has sort of changed that, but...

[A long pause.]

I don't know.

[She wants to be mad at him, but she just can't do it. She just pities him.]

I'm sorry this had to happen.

...Whatever. What's done is done. No "sorry" can reverse that.
